In September of 2000, Mr. Incendiary defeated Phom for the Crusader championship.  Little did anyone know at the time, their historic match would have implications that would run far outside the ring and bridge three federations.

When TXW experienced it's first shutdown, Mr. Incendiary, who had quickly turned to VGW to continue his career, evidentially sold the belt he had to pawn shop.  When the TWF's TCO saw this, he immediately went to the pawn shop, bought the belt and placed it in active rotation in his roster.  This is a good time to note that both VGW and TWF are offshoots of TXW, Totally Extreme Wrestling (officially Total Extreme Wrestling as of May 2001).  Both the TWF, which stands for the Totally Extreme Wrestling Federation, and VGW, which stands for Violence is Good Wrestling, eerily similar to TXW's longstanding motto, "TXW: Because violence is good."  TWF went even further when the first design of their website was a complete copy of TXW's at the time (right down to a "TXW" in the title bar), including TXW's exceptional join page.  But that's theft of a different sort.

TXW diplomatically requested that the title be returned, but much like the requests for TXW's intellectual property to remain pure, TXW's pleas for the title to be returned fell of deaf ears.  With TXW's title being passed around like a poodle in the Project Mayhem locker room, TXW's John McDuffy hatched a plan to send his nephew, Rob McDuffy, into TWF, win the Crusader title, and return it to TXW.  After several months Rob, under the guise of Lucky13, did just that and won the Crusader title in TWF.

However, when Lucky presented the title to John McDuffy, he was given little more than a pat on the back.  Enraged, Lucky demanded a shot at the Crusader title in TXW against Mr. Carter.  He won, and for a short time the titles were unified.

For a time, the story seemed to be over, TWF died away, the Crusader title changed hands a few times, life was good.  Then, Mr. Incendiary's brother, Mr. Impressive showed up at TXW telling how his brother had merely sold a fake belt to the pawn shop.  The belt he carried looked real.  Impressive demanded a match and the world went spinning again.  But just when things looked like they were set to start up all over again, Ruth Johnson make a surprise return and explained the real original Crusader title was actually still in her possession and Incendiary had never really even touched the original belt.

Confused yet?  Don't worry, it's all over now.  To summarize:  TWF stole a belt, Lucky got the belt back, but in the end, it turned out they hadn't stolen anything worthwhile in the first place.  What fun.  Beyond all this, there is one core redemption for this story.  Lucky13.  Although it turned out he was chasing shadows, he caught the shadow, and he did what he said he would do.  If there is nothing else to smile about in all this, at least Lucky's success can give us some hope at the power of the human spirit.
